Viva, Viva Las Galveston

Yesterday Roy and I met Bill and Peggy in Galveston to see Tuna Does Vegas. Roy and I got an early start to get to The Strand. We would meet up with Bill and Peggy at some point. Good plan, bad weather. We went through a huge thunderstorm on our way there and thought we had dealt with the worst of the weather for that day. We began at Gracie's and worked our way down the street. Picked up some cute Vera Bradley there. We also made a stop at The Front Parlour, where I found the cutest Texas charm bracelet. We were heading toward the Big Dog store for Roy when the skies opened up. Found a bench and shelter to wait the rain out. About that time Peggy calls and they are catty cornered across the street under scaffolding. Roy thought we should start our way to the car but it was still pouring. I took off my shoes and he asked , what are you doing? Uh, don't want to ruin the shoes. He was quick to point out he could buy me another pair of shoes, but he couldn't. These are my favorite shoes and they don't make them anymore. I will spare you the details but all four of us were not the only ones that looked like drowned rats at the theatre.
If you get the chance go to Galveston and see Tuna Does Vegas. They have tweaked the show somewhat from last year and it is still as funny as ever. The picture above of Helen Bed and Inita Goodwin as showgirls is a new touch. I could not stop laughing as they tried to work out the choreography for their floor show on seasons.
Afterwards we went to the Saltwater Grill for dinner. Both Bill and Roy had the huge bowl of Big Daddy Gumbo. Since the weather had turned sunny and nice, Roy and I headed back to The Strand for additional shopping at The Big Dog store that is going out of business with everything half price. Hey tax free weekend to boot!
We had lunch with the Taylors and Dena today at Fu's Garden. Good times and lots of laughs. We saw a lot of HFBC people there when we expected to see at lot from Second. Roy and I went downtown to look at his new office space on the 13th floor. Very nice!
Today with David and Marsha's help, the three of us made new discoveries among the pictures on the second floor of HFBC by Prom Hair Jesus. I will be taking pictures this week and sharing our new discoveries of arte de Houston's First Baptist.
