Wind And Cats....That's About All I Know Today

The clouds and sky with the mountains as a backdrop are so beautiful right now. It's almost time for the sunset, oh probably about thirty minutes away. With the tree leaves fallen, from this room I can see mountain views. I never ever want to take for granted these beautiful mountains, skies, sunrises and sunsets. So thankful to live here in these mountains.

Even with it being much colder yesterday and not getting above freezing it feels colder today. Had a couple of errands to take care of so got out around lunch time. The kiddos were in the backyard hoping that something edible would be served soon. Opened the backdoor and Riley was a little iffy about getting out in that nippy and chilly air but she went on out. While getting the food ready Punky and Strawyer came into the garage and checked it out. I closed the door for just a few minutes and then opened it again. Strawyer lingered a bit but then decided to go ahead and get out there to fight for some grub from his cranky mom and his crotchety grandmother. Riley looks on like, what I get fed is a whole lot better than yours. They wolfed down that food so quickly that additional portions were served and my presence helped Punky and Strawyer be able to get something to eat cause Camo was a hissing and a slapping. Again Riley acted like she might want to go back in the garage and she loves hanging around the Mustang, so it is being extra careful when taking the car. I was in luck at Ingles because they were serving orange chicken at the deli/Chinese/comfort food counter. They make good orange chicken. Got home to an empty backyard...left with cats. No sign...no trace...but cats are like that. After a bit, Strawyer and Punky were out playing and then the slow stretch and languid walk of Riley came out from underneath the deck. She looked toward the backdoor, so I went out to the garage and opened the backdoor, Riley came a running, no looking back, no indecision, she decided it was time to get inside. No turning back, no turning back.
*************
It is windy mcwindy outdoors today. Last night the wind chimes in the backyard were belting out a loud and furious tune...being blown to bits by the strong wind. I wanted to look out the window and see the trees buckling to the dance of the gales and gusts but Buddy had settled down, so the smart choice was just to listen and pray, not look and worry. Today, the wind gusts are still gusty. And can now see the trees and well...hmm...don't think I really want to watch this.

Along with the wind last night, right before going to bed I heard the sound of cats caterwauling. That gray cat and a gray and white cat that comes around every once in a while. Downstairs to bang on the window and do the old lady yell...get outa here! They took their fight up to the gravel road. Me thinks Camo might be in heat or something. Of course she has made herself scarce which is really, really fine by me.

Buddy is wearing herself out being a watch cat and keeping an eye on my every move. She mainly stayed downstairs all day and only came up here earlier this evening. Southern Justice was on, love that show, seen them all, but Buddy only stuck around for a bit and then went back downstairs. So I had to go out and do the final bed check on Riley. That little Riley, she has found the total and complete joy of a human rubbing her head, around her ears, around her eyes and on the side of her head. She closes her eyes and takes it all in...until some feral nerve calls her back for a moment. Then she wants her head rubbed again. That little cat has come a very long way.
